Does Google use the keywords meta tag in web ranking?

The Answer is no. Google does NOT use the keywords meta tag while ranking a webpage.

According to Matt Cutts, the importance of keywords meta tag is not more than “zero” in eye of Google as it can easily be manipulated. Though Google sometime uses the description meta tag to show the Search Engine Result Pages snippet if they find it useful and to the topic which the page covered.

Other major search engines like Yahoo, Bing, Ask are also slowly pushing the importance of keywords meta tags down. Obviously, the reason is somewhat same.
