Does Changing Webhost Affect SERP?

Here is Google’s official response on the effect on changing a Webhost. This video is from Matt Cutts, the “Google Guy”.

He clearly says that it shouldn’t cause any problem if you take some precautions before you migrate. The main aim is to keep the downtime as minimum as possible.

He suggested to keep the DNS TTL (Time to Live) of the new IP Address at a very low value (probably at 5 minutes) so that the IP propagates throughout the Internet before you change the Nameservers. However, you may change the TTL after a complete and successful migration.
