Does Google uses Meta Description?

Matt Cutts reveals the secrete of meta description. Google do sometime uses the meta description for listing instead of some random relevant to search quarry snippet from the content.
Normally Google uses some random snippet that they found in the content of the page. This is done for some reasons and they are:

  • To Avoid duplicate meta descriptions
  • To prevent manipulation of Meta Tags
  • To show relevant description to the search quarries

There may be some more reasons, but we yet to get that from Google.
