I was planning the change for quite some time, but the tight schedule was not letting me going for it.
There was many precautions was taken to ensure no data loss and no down time. Also, I had to make proper redirects from the old URLs to the corresponding new URLs (You can check it by searching for “site:www.w7b.org” in Google and click on any random link). Those were pretty time consuming things.
After spending 5 continuous hours, I have successfully managed to change the domain as well as the Webhost. Some bugs may be still there, but they will vanish as soon as I encounter them.
Stay tuned for my post on how to change WordPress blog domain and redirecting the old URLs properly. It might take some time as I already have few posts scheduled for December.
Also, I have added a Facebook Fan Box at the sidebar. I will really appreciate if you hit the Like button there.
hmm , but why is that ? you lost your page rank … dont forget to notify google about the site addr change from webmaster tools …
also u had a 3character domain , its hard to find nowadays ….
I don’t care about PR, its traffic which matters..
Made the change just because I wanted to have a meaningful domain.
Redirection is pretty easy actually. Do a “site:w7b.org” search and click on any random page. They’ll properly redirect to the corresponding itsabhik.com URL. And, all that done with a simple line of code in .htaccess
As long as 3char domains are concerned, I have 2 LLL.COM, 3 LNN.COM
(also, I have few more .nets and .orgs)
