My Nightmare Finally Came True..

It is my Seagate Barracuda 500GB Hard drive, the storage I used to store all my important documents, my works, wordpress themes, plugins, pretty much everything. I also had lots of family images and videos over there.

It suddenly stopped working on the day before yesterday. It was showing up on “My Computer”, but when I was clicking on it, it hangs the computer.

I downloaded a few tools from the internet including the Seagate Official SeaTools to check the health of my Hard Discs. The 250GB one, where I have the OS installed and some files for random use, is okay with 100% health, but the 500GB one was showing 0% health and a warning message to replace it immediately.

Worked on the backing up the HDD day and night before I called it a day.. There was no way for me to recover and fix the bad sectors. Even the Windows 7’s built in tool failed to fix the bad sectors. I also tried it with the command line.

Now I have a 1TB Seagate Barracuda internal HDD and a 500GB external for backup. Now I know the importance of back up and I learned the lesson for the cost of my life’s work so far. You should also start backing up your important data before it is too late.
