Keyword Stuffing Ideas : The Best Practices

You probably know what keyword stuffing is. It’s basically inserting the targeted keywords wisely in your webpage so that Search Engines can who what your site is about and rank it for those keywords.

It also helps to fetch the most relevant ads for your pages if you are using contextual based ad networks like adsense, adbrite or infolinks. That’s why stuffing keywords is a must and necessary element for a better SEO as long as you keep it within an acceptable range. Overdoing it may impact negatively and you might receive penalties from search engines.

Let’s check the places where we can stuff keywords in a way so that search engines don not flag it as spam. There are three main sections where we can put important keywords and they are title of the webpage, content and URL. Meta keywords are of no use as search engines like Google, Yahoo or Bing no longer follow it.

Keyword Stuffing Example

1. Webpage Title: It’s one of the important elements of a webpage as search engines shows it in their listing. Choose a title which is closely relative to your content and not more than 3 ~ 4 of your targeted keywords in it. A good example is “Send Flowers to New York” or “Flower Services, New York” if you are selling flowers in NYC or just talking about it. Remember to keep it simple and as minimum as possible.

2. Webpage Content: It’s the key element of a webpage. The most keyword stuffing thing is done here. There are actually no limits of how many keywords you can stuff here, but it’s recommend that you keep it low. I followed a few discussions on webmaster forums and no one actually knows where to put the full stop. But, in some case studies that I monitored, I found something between 5% to 10% is okay with search engines and best for SEO. It means if your article is about 1000 words long, you should keep the keywords below 100 words. But, that may not work for many of you. So, the best practice is to keep it as minimum as possible but enough to feed search engines quite well. Search engines crawls the content and analyze it to get the keywords to rank your page.

3. Webpage URL: It’s the place where people can find your webpage. It’s also plays an important role in both SEO and keyword stuffing as search engines shows it in their listing. Like the title, you should keep the keywords below 5 and separate them using “-” (hyphen, not underscore). Also note that URL helps SEO in many other ways, so keep it as simple as possible. If your webpage falls under a category on your website (like in wordpress blogs), always include it in your URL. It also serves as a keyword. For example, www.domain.com/flower-service/send-flowers-to-florida.html. The word “to” is a stop word and Google filters it while returning the results. You can choose to exclude it from your webpage title or URL.

4. Other Places: There are few other places where you can put keywords without disturbing search engines. For example, Tags. Tags are widely being used in blogs and forums. It helps the webpage to categorize according to it’s topic and the best practice is to use not more 5 keywords or tags. Tags are normally linked text to help people to find pages with same tags. Personally, I prefer it non-linked as I have several case studies where non linked tags performed as main keywords.

It’s important that you keep the keywords at a acceptable rate to avoid penalties. Never put any hidden keywords or texts in your webpage (hidden keywords are often uses on SPAM sites, MFA and Micro Niche Sites. They are normally of same color as the background which makes it almost invisible to humans).
