7 Day WordPress Camp : Day 5
Continuing from 7 Day WordPress Camp : Day 4
We have our blog setup and running. The blog probably is indexed in search engines already by now. Now let’s add some ads into it. Adsense will be our prime source of monetization, but to maximize the earnings, we need something which will add to the earnings from Adsense. There are few other companies which work alongside adsense and pays even more. Remember, adsense alone can not utilize the full earning potential and we must have other resources. Lets see how we can do it.
1. Choosing Monetization Methods: There are several types of advertisements. Apart from CPC (Cost Per Click), there are CPM (Cost Per Thousand Impression), CPA (Cost Per Action), CPV (Cost per View) Video Ads, Affiliate Ads and Contextual Link Ads. We will use CPM and Contextual Links Ads only as CPV Ads are not so popular and they normally targeted for US Traffic. Also, I am talking about networks who don’t have any limitations to qualified for applying.
- CPM Ads: CPM Ads pays for the proportional rate of per thousand ad impressions and do not pay for clicks. For example, if your eCPM (estimated CPM) is $1.00 and you have 25000 ad impressions per day, you will earn (25000×1)/1000 = $25 per day. It’ll be an extra income which will add to the income from Adsense. Below are my recommendation of CPM Ad Providers.
- CPX Interactive: It’s one of the leading provider of CPM Ads. It also have good fill rate for international traffic.
- Intergi: It gives a high eCPM rate and also have a good fill rate.
- Adsdaq: Mainly for US traffic, but have some international campaigns too. Best part is, you can set your own CPM rate.
- Chitika: Leading provider of CPC and CPM ads. As good as Adsense
- Contextual Text Link Ads: It’s like selling link form your blog post content. The price for the links are on monthly basis and you can actually make thousands of dollars per month. The link sales and placements are automatic for some companies, but you can always have a manual check over your sold links. Below are my recommendations. These companies pay the industry highest price and you really should try them.
- Infolinks: The best Contextual Text Ads provider. The payout is highest in the industry. The ads are javascript based and do not increase outgoing link count. The must have ad network.
- Text Link Ads: The leading contextual text link ads provider. Automated system to sell links.
- TNX: Another leading contextual text link ads provider. High payout.
- Backlinks: Using this program for quite some time and I am happy with the outcome so far.
- Authority Backlinks: Sister site of Backlinks. Features are same as Backlinks.
- Performancing Ads: This a paid review network. You get paid for reviewing a website or another blog.
- Affiliate Ads: Affiliate Ads are like promoting other peoples product. Affiliate Ads are normally CPA Ads which means you get paid once your referred traffic registered on that site you are promoting or purchased something from them. People are making millions of dollars from them and you can too.
- ClickBank: High payout rate and lot’s of products to choose from.
- MarketHealth: Affiliate Network of heal related products. High payout rate and quality advertisers.
- Amazon: Widely used Affiliate Network. Millions of products to choose from and payout is also good.
2. Placing Ads: Every advertising network need you to install some codes in your blog just like adsense. These codes can be Javascript codes, normal html codes or iFrame codes. Get the code from your publisher control panel and add it in the blog. You can use Adsense Deluxe plugin for wordpress to do it or you can add them manually by editing the theme files. The plugin is for adsense but you can use it serve any type of ads.
3. Ad Placements: Normally ads above fold (The upper half of the webpage) works better, but CPM ads can be placed anywhere in the webpage. Adsense released a heat map image for best performing ad placement. Check it below. The darker colors means the best performing positions.
