7 Day WordPress Camp : Day 1

Creating a Blog Empire and making money online isn’t that hard if you know the basics. Here in this 7 Day WordPress Camp, I will tell how you can create a perfect blog within a dedicated niche from the scratch. I am sure, after 7 days, you’ll have a blog which can change the way you live.

The niche blogs have their own targeted visitors and have potential to make $100 to $10,000 per month if monetized properly. After 7 day, you’ll have your blog ready to rock and earn your living from internet. So, let’s get started.

This is the 1st of the 7 day course and we do some basic yet most important things today. Let’s get started.

1. Niche Targeting: The first and the most important thing we need to do before creating blog. Niche means the topic of the blog. Most of the bloggers make mistakes here. They go after a niche which is high paying yet they do not have any idea on that niche.

My suggestion is to go with a niche where you at least have some knowledge. It’s not that you have to be an expert, but a little knowledge helps you to update your blog regularly which is one of the most important things to have a high ranking on search engines.

2. Keyword Targeting: After deciding on which niche you should go after, you have to find the popular keywords on that niche. Google have a nice and free tool to find keywords.

Type your main keyword in the “Word or Phrase” field and then click on “Advanced Options”. Choose “All Countries” and the select “English”. If you are planning to target your blog audiences from a specific country or region, choose the Location and Language accordingly. I am talking about a global blog in English Language.

Google will return the keyword idea based on the relevance. Click on the “Shorted By” and choose “Global Monthly Searches”. You can also check approximately how much you can earn per click by clicking on “Columns” and selecting “Estimated Avg. CPC”. It’s what advertisers pay Google and actual earnings may be somewhat lower.

Do not target a keyword which is highly popular. You might not rank well for it as the competition will also be very high. Choosing a less popular long tail keyword (known as key phrase) will be a good idea as long tail keywords tends to bring more targeted visitor.

3. Finding a Domain: Once we are done with the Keyword Research, we need to find a domain name. Remember, a keyword rich domain tends to rank better than non-keyword domains. I recommend iDotz Domain Name Analyzer to construct the domain name based on the keyword and find it for you and best of all, it’s free.

Always choose a .com domain if your blog is targeted for global users and, always choose a ccTLD (Country Code Top Level Domain, i.e. .us, .de, .in) if you want to target your visitors from a specific country.

4. Choosing a Webhost: Here I highly recommend Hostgator or Bluehost or GoDaddy Grid Hosting. These hosts are packed with features and we are going to optimize our website with many of them. That’s why they are highly recommended. Choose a shared hosting as it’ll be more than capable of holding your blog. As your blog grows, you can upgrade your hosting plan. Like the domain name, if you want to target your traffic from a specific country, you should choose a host which have a datacenter in that country and can provide IP Address registered to that country.
