10 Tips from WordPress Beginner

Syed Balkhi, the founder of WpBeginner shared his top 10 tips for people who just started blogging with WordPress. He shared the tips while being interviewed by John Chow at the Affiliate Summit West, 2011.

1. Start with Self Hosted WordPress
The very first tip he shared. It is logical that if you want success, you need a brand. A self-hosted wordpress blog with its own domain reflects that.

2. Find a Good Web Host
A good web host keeps your blog running. He suggested using Hostgator. Well, that is my recommendation too. Hostgator hosts some of the popular blogs including me, WpBeginner, JohnChow and many others.

3. Using Plugins
Plugins add some extra and useful features to your blog. There are some plugins, which can instantly boost your blog in regards of SEO and Affiliate Marketing. Some of the plugins he suggested are SEO plugin by Yoast, W3 Total Cache, MaxBlogPress Ninja Affiliate etc.

4. Use Themes and Plugins from Trusted Source
You should download Plugins or Themes only from trusted source like wordpress repository. Some freely available themes may have malwares included that is, need not to mention, harmful for your blog.

5. Always Backup your Blog
Taking regular backup is a must do for all the beginner and professional bloggers.. It helps in case of an emergency like hosting transfer, hacking etc. There are few plugins available that makes the process easier.
